The record
Fortified towers placed in the Thames and Mersey estuaries in 1942-43 for anti-aircraft defence. Decommissioned in the 1950s; several were later occupied by pirate radio stations. Severely corroded and reachable only by boat.

Written by people who actually went. Where these contradict the oracle, believe these.
Went in at first light with two others. The main hall is more intact than the photos suggest — the collapse everyone posts about is confined to the east wing. Floor is sound if you stay on the joists. We were out in ninety minutes and saw nobody.

The 1963 date is off by a year in most sources. The municipal record says otherwise, I can dig out the reference.
Went last month. Add 'no parking within 2km' to the terrain notes.
