The record
A 60-building sanatorium complex opened in 1898. Served as a military hospital in both world wars — Hitler was treated here in 1916 — then as a Soviet military hospital until 1995. Partly restored, partly left to the forest.

The 1963 date is off by a year in most sources. The municipal record says otherwise, I can dig out the reference.
