The record
A 17th-century fort complex abandoned progressively from the 18th century. The ASI prohibits entry between sunset and sunrise — an unusual restriction officially attributed to safety, and locally to something else.

It reads as a shape in the treeline until you are almost inside it. Bhangarh Fort does not announce itself. What registers first is scale — the structure is larger inside than the approach prepares you for, and colder.
Water has found its own routes through the structure and made them permanent. The known history covers perhaps two thirds of what you are standing in. Beyond that the record thins into municipal paperwork and hearsay, and then into nothing at all.
The last maintenance log is dated three weeks after the site was recorded as closed. At danger level 2 of 5, the honest advice is that the place deserves more caution than curiosity usually allows.

A note on the approach rather than the site: the obvious track is not the right one. Locals were friendly and pointed us at the longer route, which is longer for a reason. Take the long one.

The AI mythos is a bit much for me but the timeline is solid.
The 1963 date is off by a year in most sources. The municipal record says otherwise, I can dig out the reference.
